I’m Nik Brinkman, a music producer, audio-visual producer, and musician based in Auckland, New Zealand. I work across music production, composition, remixing, audio post-production, and visual production, collaborating with artists, labels, brands, and studios both remotely worldwide and from my studio in New Zealand.
I’ve spent over two decades producing music for myself and other artists, alongside commercial and commissioned work. In 2012, I signed a worldwide publishing deal with Sony/ATV and Page1 Management, and soon after had a No.1 single on New Zealand radio with Ladyhawke — a moment that cemented my path into pop music composition, songwriting, and professional production.
Since then, I’ve worked across a range of artist projects including Junica, Over The Atlantic (Carpark Records), Physical, Psychic Powers, and Bright Music. I’ve toured extensively throughout New Zealand, North America, the UK, and Europe, performing and collaborating alongside artists such as Beach House, New Order, Ladyhawke, The Naked and Famous, Foster The People, Soko, and Yumi Zouma. That time on the road deeply shaped how I understand songs, sound, pacing, and emotional impact — lessons I carry directly into my production work today.
Alongside artist releases, I also produce music for companies and platforms, including ongoing composition and production work for Les Mills, creating polished, commercial-ready tracks to brief and deadline for a global audience.
In parallel with my music practice, I also work as a visual producer, creating story-driven video content for artists, organisations, and brands. My visual work is closely informed by my background in music — rhythm, atmosphere, and emotional pacing sit at the centre of how I approach video — and I often work on projects where sound and image are developed together as a cohesive whole.
At the core of my work is a focus on clarity, feel, and intention. Whether I’m producing a record, developing a remix, or creating visual content, my role is to help bring ideas into focus and translate them into finished, confident work. I’m comfortable stepping in at any stage of the process — from early sketches through to final delivery — and I’m often brought in when projects need both creative sensitivity and professional reliability.
